I have a list of about 15 ideas that I'd like to flesh out. I don't really prioritize word count or any numbers like that. I honestly don't know how long they'll wind up being. Whenever the story is over is when I'm done, but I'd like to write them all out.
- Have my fic be recommended on TV Tropes and/or get a TV Tropes page made for it;
- Write 3 fics for a crossover pairing;
- with Character A in Character B's world;
- with Character B in Character A's world;
- with both worlds converging;
- Write a witness protection fic;
- Write a fic with a grey hero;
- Write a crossover of more than 2 fandoms;
- Write a fic longer than 80K;
- Get better at writing in general.;
- Write a past lover ret rns fic;
- Write a fic in which the villian falls in love with the hero;
- I want to actually catch up to all the fics I'm following;
- Win an award;
- Become a semi-BNF.
I used to want to have all my stories go popular, but I'm learning that isn't exactly something in my control. I have seen some success with a story that I honestly don't consider to be all that good, so I know that some of the popularity is just luck and nothing based on skill.
Even though getting noticed felt really nice, I want to create goals that I can control, not ones that rely on other people's actions. My more recent stories are really struggling to gain traction, but I think that's to teach me a lesson.
I don't need attention for what I'm doing, I need to keep my head down and focus on improving my craft.
I do want to write a story that'd be considered one of the best – but I don't expect to reach that level. Not that I mind; I'm writing fanfics for fun.
